Cinemar brings filmmakers together in Santa CruzServing Santa Cruz County, Monterey and the central coast of California, we provide a venue both on-line and off for anyone interested in the filmmaking process. Santa Cruz has always been a haven for creative people of all types. Artists, craftspeople, writers, actors, musicians and others are drawn to this small town and flourish in an atmosphere of acceptance and freedom. For too long local filmmakers have languished in a sort of limbo with no local venue to meet others who share their love of and desire to make movies, or a film community to support their projects. Screenwriters are unable to find producers, producers unable to find directors, directors unable to locate local talent or crew and so on. Many times individuals have been forced to look outside the community to find what they need to achieve their goal when all along these needs could have been met right here in Santa Cruz county. Cinemar - Cinema Artists Resource (formerly Santa Cruz Film Coalition) was formed to change all that. The goal of Cinemar is to create a thriving film community in Santa Cruz County by bringing local filmmakers together with the resources they need to produce their work. We will do this by creating a venue both on-line and off for anyone interested in the film making process. We will provide contacts for materials, equipment and facilities. We will give those who seek to learn more about their craft a chance to do so through seminars, workshops, and classes. Through interaction with other organizations outside the area we will give local individuals a chance to produce, work, or show finished projects in a larger arena. Through establishment of a help-line network we will provide advice and assistance from specialists and experts in varied aspects of the film making process. And finally we hope to one day provide a studio facility for filmmakers to come together and produce their work.
