Community Media Access Partnership (CMAP) Job Announcement - Productions & Operations Manager
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Production & Operations Manager will oversee maintenance of CMAP’s technical equipment and facility; provide training to members, the public and the educational community; and oversee all video production activity, including projects for community, government, education and other special productions.
Access facilitators and production crew people will report to the Productions & Operations Manager. Typical duties (may include, but are not limited to, the following): PRODUCTION: o Is responsible for delivering all contract coverage of government meetings and CMAP productions assigned and approved by the Executive Director, including scheduling crew, running equipment, making purchases, managing equipment, recordkeeping, turning in invoices, dubbing and distributing tape as necessary. o Direct, produce, shoot, light, edit, or perform audio for CMAP staff studio and field productions, or other special video projects. o Oversees staff and volunteers for work on all CMAP productions, classes and check-out of CMAP equipment. OPERATIONS: o Supervises, schedules and provides some training for interns, access facilitators, volunteers, members, and production crewpeople, for staff productions in operation of CMAP video equipment. o Schedules staffing of Access Facilitator(s), and assists in teaching classes at CMAP and in the community. o Maintains web site and video uploads, supports streaming video, marketing and development projects. o May be assigned other tasks related to operations by the Executive Director.
Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of:
Managing a video production team to deliver professional productions efficiently, on deadline, and to client’s satisfaction.
· Technical aspects of video production, including field and studio production, operation of field cameras, tape machines, lighting, sound engineering, a/b roll editing systems, Final Cut Pro editing digital editing, basic web maintenance, and uploading video to a web site.
· Mac & PC computer experience with graphics, video editing, word processing and database tools.
· Ability to research and troubleshoot technical equipment repair and replacement; manage facilities, and conduct inventory, generate reports and suggest efficiencies.
· May be assigned night and weekend shifts. · May need to use personal vehicle for business-related travel in Santa Clara and San Benito Counties.
Demonstrated ability to:
· Teach classes to a variety of community members; enthusiastically transfer knowledge of highly complex equipment and production in common terms to community users of all ages, various levels of expertise with professionalism and patience.
· Shoot and edit video productions.
· Produce studio productions, and be able to perform the following crew positions in a studio setting; director, technical director, camera, floor manager, audio engineer, CG operator, video tape operator and lights.
· Basic troubleshooting of video gear and computer equipment.
· Lift up to 50 lbs.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
· Work creatively and flexibly in a team environment, operating autonomously under minimal supervision and to provide and accept direction, supervision and guidance when appropriate.
· Convey a warm and professional public manner.
· Work effectively with government and business entities.
· Work effectively in a volunteer environment.
Additional Requirements: - Must be available for night and weekend shifts. · Must be willing to use personal vehicle for business-related travel in Santa Clara and San Benito Counties. · Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, have a safe driving record, and maintain California minimum required automobile insurance. · Must pass a background test and demonstrate video production and editing ability through sample work. Education & Experience: Any combination of education and experience that provides the skill, knowledge, and abilities required is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these requirements would be: · A B.A. degree in television production or related field, or three years of full time video production experience, or three years teaching Final Cut Pro.
Desirable Qualifications:
· Bilingual; ability to write and speak Spanish.
· Interest in career growth; marketing and online distribution of television content; interest in the communities of south Santa Clara County, Gilroy, Hollister and San Juan Bautista.
